Each year for Quest, teams will be able to recruit new and current students. Teams will need to revisit their Needs Assessment and their mission and vision statements to put together an elevator speech for recruitment purposes.
An elevator speech is a clear, brief message about you and your team. It communicates who you are, how your team benefits its target audience, and what you are looking for. It's typically about 30 seconds, the time it takes people to rise from the top to the bottom of a building in an elevator. Your speech can be used to recruit new members, as well as talking to other about your Quest project. It is important to have your speech memorized and practiced. You want it to sound natural and confident. Get comfortable with what you have to say so you can breeze through it when the time comes. Teams can watch the following short video from Howcast to help them perfect their elevator speech:
To meet the Recruitment objective, each member in your team will need to create their own elevator speech and present it to your Quest class. Additionally, teams need to use their individual elevator speeches to recruit new members to their team. Teams will need to evaluate new recruits' SWOT Analysis form and write a statement about how each recruit helps to meet one or more items from the team's Needs Assessment. Have your Quest coach sign off your team's progress on the Quest Objective Completion Form.
