QUESTFEST is where groups get to showcase what they've been working on to the greater community. A wonderful opportunity for groups to increase engagement about their work, questfest is a culminating annual activity.
STEP 1: CREATE A QR CODE
Students will generate QR codes that will link to their website. If there is not yet a website, it will link to an infographic, mission/vision statement, or another objective outcome the group is most proud of. Follow the directions on how to create a QR code.
How To Create QR Codes:
A QR code is a machine-readable code consisting of an array of black and white squares, typically used for storing URLs or other information for reading by the camera on a smartphone. If you have a website, simply paste the URL into the free generator.

If you have not yet made a website for your group, here is a link to the directions for creating a QR code for documents (infographic,mission/vision) http://www.flapjackeducation.com/2013/09/attaching-pdf-document-to-qr-code.html
Once the code is created, download it and save it to google drive for reuse. Print it out and affix to card stock to display near your booth.
Begin brainstorming on what to do at your booth! Is there something you can collect to help with your idea or cause? Do you need materials? Can you demonstrate a skill? Is there an expert that can come to campus to present that day? What local professionals might be able to donate their time or materials? What creative activity can reflect the spirit of the project?
If you are wanting people to donate items at the event, be sure to create marketing and advertise that need ASAP via posters, social media, and morning announcements- we are only a couple of weeks away!
STEP 2: DESIGN A BOOTH
Students will create an activity, presentation, or demonstration that relates to their topic. This should be engaging for visitors. Here are some examples from actual groups who have already been surveyed:
group
activity
engagement/results
How music affects mood
Have 3 or 4 mps players loaded with music and headphones. Survey visitors how they feel. Let them choose which station to listen at. After 5-10 minutes of music, ask how they feel. Collect results.
This is fun AND useful! Group can collect the data and use it next year to build out their project further.
Animal adoption
Can print images and display currently available pets for adoption. Can host art project to make “pet rocks”.
This group could also promote a blanket/towel drive ahead of time for people to donate at the event. These can be donated to the local animal shelter- they always need towels/blankets!
Visitors have fun and create something to keep, this will remind them of the need for pet adoption. They will be aware of pets currently in need of homes. People can put old things to good use.
Couponing 4 Kids
Provide quick lessons on how to coupon (show websites like Totally Target, apps like Cartwheel and Ibotta); collect coupon donations
Coupon deals can be used by students visiting the booth and/or used to purchase hygiene & personal care items for minors in the San Bernardino child dependency court system
Texting & Driving
Texting and driving simulation/ obstacle course
Students compare their completion times while texting and not texting; obstacle courses are fun!
